About Us

HavluTowel is a wholesale business formed in 2009 and is based wholly in Oregon. We specialize in organic and other natural fiber textile products.

We believe in fair labor practices so we purchase only from manufacturers where we can verify that the employees are fairly paid and they comply with the wage labor and safety laws of their country. This includes visiting and working directly with the manufacturing facilities ourselves to make sure the products are compliant with consumer safety.

We quality check samples of the products ourselves by putting the samples into use washing and drying at temperatures above the recommendations before placing a full order. We buy from factories that have Oeko-Tex Certification which means the products that they produce have been tested to meet the human-ecological requirements presently established for baby articles. Also that they fulfill the European requirements regarding the use of azo-dyes.

We believe in sustainable consumption and minimal packaging. Towards this end we use recycled and recycleable paper products in our packaging and office supplies. Our company vehicle is a gas electric hybrid. Most importantly we believe in honesty accountability and openness in doing business.

We Love Other Green Businesses

The following is a list of green businesses we use or have used and really love. Our list includes suppliers, hotels and eating establishments we frequent while traveling.

We chose our webhost because of the carbon neutral hosting and great easy to read support pages. They are quick with live support requests when we have needed them. Their support services are based in their San Franciso offices and not out-sourced. We also chose them because they provide hosting on open source Linux based servers.

The Good Hotel - We stayed here for the Green Festival in downtown San Francisco CA. A fun and friendly place. The following is from their website - The Good Hotel is a hip San Francisco hotel that practices philanthropy and believes in doing good for the planet. The eco-friendly hotel d├ęcor features reclaimed and recycled construction materials.

The Oval Door - We stayed here for the Green Home and Garden Show in Eugene Oregon. Great chef cooked breakfast and friendly people.

Free Geek - We recycle old computer equipment here. Based in Portland Oregon they recycle and refurbish donated items. Refurbished computers are given to non-profits. Free Geek happily provides computers, education, and job skills training to volunteers in exchange for their service. They provide good classes in Linux and other open source software to the volunteers. We are firm believers in open source software.

Many of our product photos are done by Susan Ewbank Photography - Seattle Washington.

Future Green is one of our customers in Milwaukee Wisconsin. They have opened the most lovely eating establishment "Cafe Tarragon" in the same location as their shop. They use organic foods and grow many of the herbs on the rooftop and will grow more in the outdoor seating they are setting up.
